How do Equipment Inspection Checklists work?

Good to Go Safety is a Safe Equipment Management System (SEMS), which encourages safety inspections on workplace equipment and is the ideal addition to your H&S, maintenance and equipment management programmes. The use of Good to Go Safety removes the assumption that workplace equipment is safe for use - 'it was used without incident yesterday, it'll be fine today' – by providing a clear visual indication of when an inspection has been completed and what the findings were.

The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER) 1998 impose specific legal duties on companies to provide, inspect, maintain and operate safe work equipment.

Our inspection and tagging system is a simple, effective and affordable solution to all equipment safety, allowing competent inspectors to carry out regular checks and clearly communicate the findings to all employees.

Simply follow the steps below, and you'll be good to go:

Tag it Attach the status tag to the appropriate equipment to visually inform employees of its current status.

Check it Select the relevant check book for your equipment type and use the safety audit checklist to carry out a comprehensive inspection. Each book includes guidance notes and the necessary checks for that specific piece of workplace equipment.

Record It Sign and date the inspection checklist before removing from the book. A duplicate copy is retained in the check book for management records, providing valuable evidence in the event of an incident involving that equipment.

Display It Insert the completed checklist into the status tag to display the date of inspection and the findings (either “Good to Go” or “Do Not Use”).

Secure It Fit a tamper evident seal to deter unauthorised access. The seal must be broken to open the tag, providing additional peace of mind that the displayed status is correct. An optional extra, the tamper evident seal is popular when equipment is accessible by members of the public or in unsecure locations.

Good to Go The tag will now clearly display the findings and advise when it is 'Good to Go' or should a fault be found a 'Do Not Use' message is displayed to instantly quarantine the faulty equipment.
