Industries - Workplace Inspection Checklists

Employees in certain industries are more at risk of being the victim of a workplace accident. Many involve the use of machinery, equipment or the use of vehicles.

Although occupational injury is a risk in most industry sectors, the riskiest sectors are agriculture, forestry, fishing, construction, manufacturing, and transportation, which account for approximately half of the serious accidents at work and the largest share of fatal accidents.

Construction workers were found to be more likely to experience a fall from height or be struck by a moving / falling object than in other industries. The most common types of farming accident injuries include: Machinery Accidents, Vehicle Accidents and Falls from Height. Delivery drivers are particularly at risk of being involved in road traffic accidents, due to driving in busy city centres where they are at risk of colliding with cyclists, motorcyclists and pedestrians.
