Fire Safety Regulations - Be a Responsible Person with TakeAIM

The Government continues to implement new legislation following the Hackett review and Grenfell Tower Inquiry. This has resulted in amendments to the existing Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 (Fire Safety Order) which governs day to day fire safety.

There are also very challenging new fire safety regulations – the Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022 – which came into force on 23 January 2023. With these regulations now in place, we thought we'd remind everyone that TakeAIM can help users to ensure fire safety checks are completed and recorded efficiently and accurately.

TakeAIM has pre-installed checklists for numerous fire safety equipment and we also include a generic fire safety checklist for the workplace, this can assist managers whilst walking through a building / site to monitor and determine whether workplace fire safety measures are satisfactory.

If these inspections aren't detailed enough for you, simply create your own in-depth inspection and ensure you remain a "Responsible Person".

Simply apply a QR code onto / next to the fire door, extinguisher, alarm or fire blanket and when scanned (within the app) the relevant checklist will automatically open allowing you to complete an inspection of all the relevant components. During the inspection you are able to attach photos and notes if concerns are raised and each step of the inspection is timestamped to identify if someone is simply ticking boxes rather than completing an accurate inspection.

Upon completion of a checklist it is instantly accessible to management via their own company dashboard where they are able to view and monitor/analyse the findings of all competed checklist, assign responsible persons to assets and create new checklists from scratch. If an advisory / fault has been logged during an inspection they will receive an email – allowing them to view the concern and take the relevant actions to rectify the issue with minimal delay.

When it comes to fire safety, recent tragedies such as those at Grenfell Tower, Cameron House Hotel and New County Hotel highlight the dangers and the impact that mistakes / oversights can have. Completing regular checks can go a long way to helping identify minor issues before they become a deadly incident.
